Letter book, 1813 Dec. 24-1819 July 20.

Copies of letters written by Harrison during his tenure as collector of customs for the District of Niagara, N.Y., many to Samuel H. Smith, Commissioner of the Revenue. There are also some letters written to Harrison by others. Letters written 1813-1814 detail Harrison's experiences during the British invasion of the Niagara Frontier, including the capture of Fort Niagara, the burning of Lewiston, his flight to Batavia, N.Y., and the effect of the war on the region. The volume includes a brief biographical sketch of Harrison, and comments on some of the letters, presumably written by John Porter, a resident of Lewiston.
